Costa del Sol Marinas - A Taste of The Highlife

The Costal del Sol's 12 Marinas stretch along the whole of its length and are one of the biggest tourist attractions in the coastal resorts. Nightfall transforms the marinas into hives of entertainment where music and spectacle combine to seduce the visitor.

Their class, history and international renown have made the Marinas the number one berth for owners of the world most luxurious yachts and the latest, most original sports boats. A charming setting in which to stroll and admire these exquisite vessels.

Yachting & boating in general are popular pursuits on the Costa del Sol and throughout southern Spain. The Costa del Sol boasts a multitude of quality marinas along its shores, many of them famous in their own right such as Puerto Banus. An increase in population & earnings to the region in recent years has highlighted a need for more mooring space, & both local government & commercial enterprises have taken to improving this side of the Costa del Sol's in Marinas in Malaga and the South Coast of Spain.

Puerto Banus in Marbella, Puerto Marina in Benalmadena, Cabopino and Estepona are the cream of the coast's magnificent nautical facilities

Just beyond Marbella is Spain's answer to St. Tropez where some of the most spectacular gin palaces and luxury yachts are moored. There are numerous sailing clubs located at the Costa del Sol's larger harbours all of which offer tuition and classes. Both crewed and uncrewed yachts can be rented, although you need a skipper's certificate or a helmsman's overseas certificate to rent an uncrewed yacht.

  • Puerto Banus - one of the first pleasure crafts harbours in the Mediterranean Sea, a pioneer in Spain, which contributed to spreading the name of Marbella, all through the world. It was established in 1970 by the famous D. José Banús. For those really seeking the jet-set high life and the chance to mingle with the rich and famous amongst the multi-million dollar yachts and Lamborghinis it's all to be found in Puerto Banús. This beautiful marina has become legendary for its trendy quayside cafes, boutiques and shops, and its non-stop "over the top" nightlife.  Some of the best restaurants, bars and night clubs can be found here.
  • Puerto Deportivo de Cabopino - located 10 km's away from the centre of Marbella and enclosed in a beautiful residential area. A beautiful beach with several restaurants and typical "chiringuitos" will offer you the pleasure of enjoying savoury grilled sardines or "espetos", and "pescaito frito" - fried fish the Malaguenian way.
  • Puerto Deportivo Marbella - The marina here is centrally located along the paseo maritimo, and from there it is easy to walk into Marbella town. It is principally a fishing port for trawlers and cruisers fishing the mediterranean for its natural produce, as well as the fish farms located underwater not far from the shore.
  • Puerto Marina - Special design with artificial islands give this pleasure crafts harbour an avant-garde international flavour. Within short distance from the harbour, there are many hotels, a gaming Casino and numerous sports and leisure facilities and special trips to the nearby Spanish town of Ceuta on the North Africa coast, are some of the facilities offered by the Benalmadena harbour.
